Plaza do Carmo church - Faro (Portugal)
Unique constructionsThe challenge
The Plaza do Carmo church, in the town of Faro, in the Portuguese Algarve, is a magnificent classical building with a 1400 m2 façade that serves as a spectacular centrepiece in the square. But the dirt, pollution and the passage of time had consumed the original colours of the monument.
The solution
To recover the brightness and beauty of thefaçade, the entire surface was first chipped away and then a lime mortar wasapplied. The project was then completed by applying Ovaldine Silicato in white.
