Which paint is suitable for wet areas, enclosed areas, etc.?

Normally those that are more breathable, to avoid blistering, and with an anti-mould preservative to prevent the appearance of mould. If the substrate is wet, it should not be painted, only Tixoway Antihumedad can be used. If it is a humid environment: L-500, Montokril Liso or Magnum Termoaislante.

Why are there specific paints for exterior use?

Façade coatings contain special resins and components that enable them to resist the effects of UV rays, exposure to rain and humidity, environmental pollution and atmospheric agents.

Which products are waterproof?

All our façade coatings are waterproof. A number of standards and tests are available to assess waterproofing. More information about waterproofing can be found in the product technical datasheet.

Can I use products on already painted surfaces or do I need to prepare them first?

The substrate must be in suitable condition, and in the case of previously painted substrates, the product being applied must be compatible with the substrate. A porous support is essential for good adherence. In general, you should not apply solvent-based products on water-based products, or two-component products on single-component products. For more information, you should check the product technical datasheet.

For humid outdoor climates, we recommend that you use paints with high waterproof properties and an anti-mould preservative. We would recommend paints containing an anti-mould preservative for interiors as well.

Which products are suitable for outdoor environments with high pollution?

For façades located in highly polluted environments (large cities, areas close to industrial estates, motorways, etc.) you should use coatings with self-cleaning properties. Which products are best for painting roof tiles?

All our façade coatings are recommended for this application, but you should bear in mind that the higher the quality of the paint, the better the resistance will be on the substrate. Some tiles are treated to give them water-repellent or oil-repellent properties, in this case they must be primed with Imprimación Epoxi Suelos. You can test this by pouring water and/or solvent onto them to see if it is repelled. If they repel water, paint them with solvent-based products, and if they repel solvents, prime them with Imprimación Epoxi Suelos.

Which products are best for painting polyurethane foam?

This can generally be painted with water-basedpaints, usually waterproofing paints.

Which façade products are the best under extreme temperatures?

The coatings that offer the best performance in extreme temperature conditions are photoreticulable coatings (they take advantage of solar energy during the drying process to form a more resistant film). Our photoreticulable elastic products are Ovaldine Elástic and Ovaldine Antifisuras. Tejamont Top Cover is available for waterproofing roofs.

Which façade products offer the highest elasticity?

Ovaldine Elástic is our most elastic product, capable of covering cracks of up to 2 mm. Our Montokril Elastómero coating covers cracks of up to 1 mm. Finally, Ovaldine Antifisuras is ideal for covering microcracks up to 0.5 mm

How do I check the porosity of a substrate?

There are standards for finding out the vapour or liquid permeability of a substrate. One simple way is to wet the surface and see what is absorbed.

How do I find out if the previously applied product is water-based or solvent-based?

As a general rule, if it melts and becomes sticky when you apply a solvent, that means the previous product is water-based. If it wrinkles, dissolves or is not affected, then it is likely a solvent-based product.

How do I find out whether the previously applied product is a one-component or two-component product?

As a general rule, put some solvent on a rag and rub it; if it dissolves, it is probably a one-component product, if not, it is a two-component product.

Can a one-component product be repainted with a two-component product?

It depends on the nature of both products, but as a general rule this is not recommended as the two-component product is usually harder, more resistant, etc., which creates greater surface tension and can lift the one-component product. You should also take into account that two-component solvent-based products are more aggressive and can dissolve or wrinkle the previous one (one-component).

Can a two-component product be repainted with a one-component product?

As a general rule, yes, since the two-component product is more resistant and inert than the one-component product. This means that the substrate should be prepared, sanded, primed, etc.

Can glass be painted?

Yes, it all depends on how you want to use itin the future. Glass is a difficult substrate to adhere to, so you would need to perform an adhesion test. We would recommend using multipurpose products, products designed for this exclusive purpose, or an adherent primer.
